I acquired this old electric chainsaw a long time ago and have never seemed to have a need for it. Because I already have a smallish size sized gas powered (2.8 horse power) chainsaw with an 18" bar that I can easily grab and use for most things in general in which I'm needing a chainsaw. Seems like more trouble than it would be worth to have to drag out the extension cord when I can just use the gas powered one quicker/easier. I can think of maybe a scenario when I might want to cut/prune some branches or something without making as much noise as the gas-powered one would, but that's about it, and so far that scenario has never happened (to me) anyway. All this electric chainsaw has been good for so far is taking up space on my shelf. Comments?

That cord behind it in the photo is just a cord running against the wall. Nothing to do with the chainsaw...

I have a Husqvarna 316e electric that I love. I like the fact that it is maintenance free and always starts. No mixing oil w/ gas. No oil/gas mix to go stale. The Husqvarna is safe. It has a inertia brake and a clutch that reduces power before a stall which can lead to kickback. It's been out to play 3 times since it was bought fall of 2011.

As much trouble as I have keeping my gas powered weed wapper, power washer, etc going due to the crummy gas we get these days, I cannot imagine wanting anything other than an electric chainsaw. I have 2 remingtons and a black and decker gator (think lopping shears with a chainsaw built in) and think they work great. Plus when you let go of the trigger, they are off, quiet, and safe.

My Dad used to heat his house in Northern Michigan with wood. He had 2 gas powered chain saws, but he always grabbed his electric chain saw when he had a lot of cutting to do and it was near electricity. No mixing, no smell, almost no vibration or noise. Great it you have a lot of cutting to do.

Thanks for all those comments. A lot of valid sensible reasons it seems for me to get out of the habit of ignoring the electric chainsaw and just go ahead and start using it when it seems it seems perfectly appropriate to do so. It's actually nice to have the other option now that I realize some of the obvious advantages which I seen to have overlooked/disregarded previously. thanks again
