Electric die grinder?

I am starting a rust repair project on the floor of my project car. Of course as these things sometimes go a 4" spot turned in to a 6" spot and before I was done cutting there is about a 12" square hole in the floor.

I am at a place where my regular angle grinder and recip saw cannot really reach. I have a dremel tool but it normally doesn't cut metal too well.

I need a die grinder but my compressor isn't big enough to run one for long enough to do any good.

Has anyone ever used one of these HF cutoff tools?

I know it won't be very durable but they have them on sale for 20$ right now so at that price if it helps me finish this one project I will be happy.

If that is not a good solution do you have any opinions on what to buy?

A new compressor will come the future but I have my eye set on a decent IR compressor and it isn't in the budget for another 6 or so months.

i always figure if a HF electric tools makes it past the 1st 5 minutes, i'm ahead of the game.

you mention your compressor isnt big enough, even my CM oilless will run a cutoff wheel for a short time.

HF's $10 air cutoff tool works fine.

I've not used that tool. I'm a bit confused 'cause I thought you were asking about electric die grinders but then linked to the cut-off tool. HF does make an actual electric die grinder, albeit much longer. It works great, but I destroyed TWO when the burr got away from me in tube and the die grinder came apart were the metal neck meets the plastic body. This breaks a host of plastic pcs for the switch and makes repair near impossible (I tried). As such I don't really recommend the HF electric die grinder.

I have HF's pneumatic cutoff tool and I hate it. It's ****. At least mine is, I NEVER use it because it's such ****. I'm not a HF hater. Maybe I just got a lemon.

The Makita is expensive but it's so smooth and quiet and ballsy it's worth it. I'm sure the ones pictured above are too.

Go expensive or go HF, it's your preference, the old adage of getting what you pay for holds true.
