Looking for something to make fueling mowers a little easier. Though about using 12v fuel pump for car/trucks. Will be using 15 gallon tank for fuel, I guess just about any 12v pump would work okay to pump six gallons or so at a time? Anyone on here made something like this, I know you can buy them ready to use but too much $$ for my use.

I would advise you dont use an electric fuel pump designed to run inside a gas tank from a modern vehicle

Inside a gasoline tank the vapour concentration is high which overcomes the risk of oxygen fuelling an explosion

If you run it outside for moving gas you then add enough oxygen for it to become "risky"

Most fuel transfer devices in workshops (in the UK) have hand cranked pumps

check the free flow rate of external mounted pumps .

these nice little cube's here pic #1 are 1gal of fuel per 12 min .

and these bigger units pic #2 are 1 gal at just over 3 min .

both of these i tested my self first hand . cause i had a vehicle here that ran flat on its face after 4k rpm with the little cube he had provided to use . i swapped on the bigger unit and she was fine up past 6k were i shifted it to the next gear .

Any inline 12V pump OK. Rubber lines both sides. Been pumping old gas out boats long time. Do a swithch or direct alligator clamps to a Batt. Watch your spark though, and outdoors best. Sniff test Tales maybe 10 minutes 5 gallons. Just what I'm doing here. Old gas front tank. Yellow Dorsett. Shiny thing on the floor.

Gasoline fuel pumps are harder to find that diesel pumps. I have an enclosed trailer with a remote mounted fuel pump that needed to be changed. I was over $400 I think for an 8gpm pump. Fillrite is the brand name. I would be careful with gasoline. What about rigging up a larger container on a gravity fill?

Been using a $7 Amazon low pressure inline pump and a battery tender for years to pump out snowmobile tanks for summer storage. Its low psi (4-7) so as not to over power a carb float needle. Took about 20 minutes. Hooked it to a battery this year instead of battery tender...took 2 minutes. Felt stupid.
