I was wondering if anyone has used a electric furnance to heat their garage? I won,t be using it every day, I don.t know if gas would be cheaper?

I have an electric heater for the shop, and on paper it is the cheapest heat for me since I am on propane. In reality thought, it hasn't worked out. It is outragous to heat the shop with electric, and it takes forever to heat up. With the propane heater, it is warm and ready to work quickly. Just my experience.

I have an electric furnace in my oversized 2-car and I think it works quite well. We get very cold winters here (up to 45 below) and my furnace has no problem warming the garage up to 70 degrees in the middle of winter. I keep the garage about 45 degrees during the winter and I don't think my electric bill is excessive. Don't know if gas would be cheaper, I'd suggest talking to a heating contractor.

around here gas is way cheaper.
even when midamerica energy cut the rate in half if you have an all electric house the gas is cheaper.
unless your talking heat pump.
check to see if your service provider has special rates for electric heat.
you never know.
