Looking for a 40 AMP/7500 Watt / 240 Volt garage heater to hang from my garage ceiling. The one I had, same specs as just mentioned, did the job for me but it just "retired" on me after only sporadic use over a few years.

There seem to be plenty of similar heaters like this on the market but I am hoping to find something with a bit more quality built in than the "Comfort Zone" unit which just retired on me. It has the "Made in China" identification on the bottom. I am hoping to find something (maybe even made in the US?) that will last. Depot and Lowe's offer more or less the same stuff but I am hopeful some of the HVAC supply houses offer something a bit more substantial quality wise.

Anyone had experience solving this problem? If so please advise as to brand name, model number and your supplier's name.

Thanks
O'Man

Are you looking for an infrared heater, or an electric space heater? That kind of matters for what we might recommend.

When I was shopping for an electric garage heater I stumbled across King Electric. I have had my heater for about 5 years and have been very happy with it. King-Electric.com should have something that would fit your needs well. Good luck.

I think we have a winer here. Looked quickly at King Electric and saw the words I needed to see..."designed and assembled in USA". Going to do some research tonight after dinner. There seem to be a lot of K-E options I just need to have a look see in more detail than I have done so far.

Thanks to you both!!!!

I've been using a Dr. Infrared 966 (engineered US/assembled China) for a couple of months. No complaints yet. I've got it set at low on 3k watt and my garage has been holding steady at 53°. If I crank it to high on 6k watt I can get my 20x25 garage up to 70°.

I bought a 5KW 220 V0lt Electric Unit Heater for the garage my wife sometimes putters in, I installed i 30 Minute mechanical "twist timer" so that she dosen't have to remember to turn off the heat when she uses it.
The timer controls a DPST Relay, the relay coil voltage is provided by a repurposed 24 volt "Wall Wart" power transformer from a irrigation sprinkler control.

I just asked about a Marley portable electric heater. Marley is still USA made - in So. Carolina. I have had their 4000 watt unit for 20? years and it was not new when I got it. It has been bullet proof untill recently the switch/thermostat has begun to fail.
I can recommend the brand.
You can easily wall, ceiling or floor mount it.
