Can someone on here tell me the size of a split system I would need for a 30 x 36 with 12 ft. ceiling.
Thanks

I found a 1.5 ton self contained heatpump on ebay that does great for my 30x30x12 pole barn. Of course I am in SC so it's not too cold but the past couple weeks it's been down in the 20's and lower at night and it has really done the trick. I just got it installed in early Nov. right before it got cold and the first month of heat only cost $45.

That is a loaded question but the short answer DEPENDS on where you live (geographic location). Your location is a base for the heat gain/heat loss design parameters that dictate unit capacity. IE where is your shop/garage??

Chev, I believe that the system that g17jimmy described will be adequate. You have more cooling days than heating days. In your geographical location, a heat pump would be the most economical system for an all electric application.

You could contact two or three or more HVAC contractors in your area and have them quote a system. Act as though you do not know anything and let them sell you. You will gain an incredible amount of info for $0.00. Ask a lot of questions and let them impress you with their knowledge. This way you will become educated and have more info for a decision.
