Electric heat below plastic tiles?

I don't know how hard or efficient a system like this may be, but has anyone ever laid a heating element below plastic flooring tiles (like Racedeck, for instance)?

I have a small garage and I'm thinking whether a small section of floor heating element under the plastic tiles would be of any value--or simply more trouble than it's worth.

Thoughts?

Thanks.

I'd contact the manufacture of the product you will be installing and ask them. Any heating system you put on a concrete slab will be less efficient because of no insulation under it. gene ec-Indy

I wouldn't recommend it. Since the floor is floating there will be movement and you will be grinding the heating elements between the flooring and concrete. I wouldn't expect the system to last very long under those conditions.

I've embedded open mats with Elite Crete Systems Thin Finish and I have also saw cut a grid pattern and installed the wire into the concrete. gene ec-Indy
