So I wired back my motor for my lathe and I thought I had wired it exactly how I got it when it worked. Apparently not because the motor doesn't turn on and I can't seem to get why?

NOTE: In the 2nd picture, the wire labeled "2" comes from the 110V outlet

Three possibilities:

You had a "Dead spot" (assuming adn old commutator motor) and rotated it off that spot.

The switch is getting tired/worn.

There is a wire that is intermittent/broken inside the insulation, and moving things "connected" it. - This would be my vote.
