Hi guys.
I am involved in the resto of FUTURLINER # 8 here in Sweden, doing the electrical stuff.
I am looking for any and all info, experience, doc or general info on a
MASTER GEARHEAD MOTOR, 110 V 1/2 HP manufactured by " The Master Electric Company, Dayton , O(hio?) , USA. I think it is made around 1950.
It is incredibly well built, all insulation is as new (> 50 MegOhms at 500 V) and gears, bearings is in almost as new condition. However, since I am a firm believer in restoration before test, the motor will be technicaly rebuilt and cosmetically made to look as new.
It is a strange beast, the 1 phase staor winding is connected in a delta with three wires ( fwd, rev and common) and the rotor is a commutator rotor where two brushes 180 deg apart are connected to each other ( and ground) I understand how it works , but have never seen a 1 phase reversible AC motor of that design before
The pic shows the stator and rotor separated.
This particular motor drives the pantograph that raises the lighting fin. Immensly cool! There are 5 more! And a 10 kVA generator weighing in at 650 kilos!
Please guys, any info at all is most welcome.
Best regards
Ola
