Electric Motor Question - Flange Mount Kit

I have a rigid base, 3hp, GE, electric motor that I am wanting to convert to a flange mount. The frame on this motor is a 184T. Will this conversion be as simple as searching for a 184T flange kit and installing, or are there other considerations for fit?

I have found two kits, but am not sure they will work and the pictures they show are for representation purposes, so it is hard to go by the image.

Kit 1

Kit 2

Thank you for any help!

A C-face is much more common from what I have seen.

But you are tearing down the motor...which can go well or be regrettable....depending on your skill. I would try to get definite catalog data on your motor and its bearings...It could be something like a 6205 to 6207 series. But, make sure that new C-face ring has the same bore for the bearing OD. Hopefully then you are good to go.

Thank you, Matt.

I have no issue with tearing down the motor. I am just not confident that what I am ordering will work. I am suspecting that "184T" as a frame size is not standardized enough for me to have confidence that any of these kits will work.

I think I will order one and see how it goes... it is cheap enough to try. As long as the bearing outside diameter fits, I can even cut the flange on a lathe and re-drill some mounting holes if I need to.

I am just trying to replace this, with a flange:

Might also be able to go to the manufacturer of your motor, if its someone that's still making that line you might be able to special order an end bell. Usually though the MSRP on new motors is astronomical...so

The other possibility is a motor repair shop. They might have a scrappie laying around for an electrical fail that they would sell cheap.

184t is a standard usa motor size...you can google nema frame sizes and learn more than you want to know. If you convert your base mounted motor to a flange mount, as others have pointed out, you will likely have to mess with the bearing in the end flange. If you buy a simple add on flange, you will use up some of your shaft length equal to the width of the adapter...so you need to make sure the remaining shaft length will be enough to connect your motor.
