Hello Folks, I have a nice GE 1/2 HP motor that a forward/reverse drum switch on it. I'm repurposing the motor and removed the switch. I have some questions about the power cord hook up. I'm guessing here and ask someone to confirm:

The black wire from inside the motor should connect to the top L3 terminal
The white wire from inside the motor should connect to the middle L1 terminal

Black wire from the power cord connects to the L3 terminal
Write wire from the power cord goes to the bottom L2 terminal

Am I correct or? Thanks for your helkp

I'll take a wild guess. This is a guess, nothing more.

The incoming hot goes to L1 and 3 (black wire going into the motor).

The incoming neutral goes to L2 and the white wire going into the motor.

If it turns the wrong way, swap the ball and white going into the motor.

Again, just a guess.

If all else fails, trace where the wires go. This is a pretty std wiring diagram for motors like yoursmotor wiring.jpg.

Might have been a good idea to take note of the existing wiring to and from the switch as that would have told you how to wire it without the switch.
