Electric string trimmer

I need some help with parts for my Craftsman trimmer. I order a B&F housing and cover from Sears parts. All went well till I get my parts, no B&F housing. Invoice says no longer available. I've tried searching the net but no luck. Every place I've checked coming up no longer available. I wish Sears site would of said this when I was placed order. The part number is 31101510. If I can't find part, time to buy new trimmer. Thanks for any help from everyone.

Sorry I can't help with the string trimmer. My Craftsman electric trimmer is still operational, but I see that most of the parts I have previously ordered and replaced are no longer available.

I have (had) a really heavy duty 1/2" Craftsman cordless drill. It lasted a little over 12 months on really light duty occasional use, then stripped the gears. I tried to order replacements: "Not Available," out of warranty, and no way to upgrade.

Any guess as to why I no longer consider Sears a reliable source for tools?

For significantly less money (typically less than 25%), I can buy throwaway tools at Harbor Freight!

You get to buy a new line trimmer!

Echo has a cordless model that's the bee's knees!

I bought a Stihl FSE 60 electric string trimmer a few years ago and love the thing. I think it cost around $110 to $120 new and is made in Austria. May want to give Stihl a look.

Look at the Stihl FE's parts will be around for 20 years + in most iofferings.Warranty service and support are second to none. We sell Echo as well no comparison when you crack them open and look at the size of the electric motors/components. Echo is a great machine ahead of the majority of the box store offerings.Warranty can be tough to get executed with Echo. Just based on what our dealership goes through different areas of the country may be different due to different distributors.

Thanks Shadowdog. I didn't know they made electric versions. I want a corded trimmer because I never have good luck with battery operated tools. Plus I don't want to deal with the fuel and storing it.

I have one of these, it is pretty good. I see Echo just came out with a 48v or 52v cordless, might be worth checking out.
