Electric tool storage

I've got many 110 volt tools with, of course, attached wires. I must have a dozen but have not found a way to store them without getting the cords tangled or in a jumble as they are stored in a common locker.

Any ideas?

No matter where I store corded power tools, I wrap the cord around the tool and tuck the plug into the wrap. No tangles that way. With that being said, I use lateral file cabinets to store my handheld power tools.

This. Maybe when I get more organized I will have a slot to place my tools in which would keep the cord segregated. But I am not expecting that anytime soon.

I do pretty much the same as Occupant does. Filing cabinets are great for power tools.

Yup. Google a product called cable cuff. Home Depot sells them. Find them almost any place.

I like the Velcro strap system ridgid puts on their tools also..

+1 to the cable cuffs. The mediums are perfect for most cords.
I have yet to break one.

Find/make a box to suit the tool. Get some ball bungee loops to keep the cords under control. Power cords can be neatly looped on the side of tools such as grinders and kept in place with those bungees. The cord can be replaced as needed with bulk cord from Canadian Tire stores.

Another Vote here for the Velcro Straps...

Use them as directed and can NOT lose them. Been using the m for Power Cords & Power Tools for years, Now I have started using them for cables & cords on the laptops and other household electronics.

Velcro...I have some that are 20 years old, and still do just what they are supposed to do. Tangled cords are for suckers...

Frequently used tools - velcro. Everything else - zip ties. I like zip ties better for long term storage as they hold more securely, cheaper and faster to use if doing a lot of cables.

QFT. I'm using the same method, velcro for frequently used, zip ties for rarely used.

Those Cable Cuffs are alright but they seem to allow the cord to move around and subsequently come out of the cuff with any movement. I like the velcro wraps that have the little hole so you can secure them to the cord itself.

Agree with using file cabinets for power tool storage.... And there is plenty of room for spare blades and accessories in the same drawer..

Shorten the cords on each tool to create a tail of about a foot and use lock-in plugs with a single extension lead (retractable to make it even neater)?

I've found that wrapping the cord around the tool leads to cord damage where it exits the tool. I use velcro staps.

I have a two car garage which doubles as a car/woodworking/metalworking/electronics shop. Pure hobby and I have lots of stuff.
I got hold of a metal file cabinet and arranged the top part to store electric tools, 9 in all and attachments.
A bit unpractical, but a great space saver. Wish I had a bigger place with dedicated spaces , but mine is a shop for a normally handy guy who does different jobs.

I use the velcro cord fasteners also but sometimes wrap the cord as well. I've found lateral file cabinets the perfect size for most electric hand tools. I've got individual drawers for saws; routers; biscuit joiners and pocket hole; extension cords; rope and bungees; clamps; air nailers and nails
