Electrical / AC Disconnect Location Questions

As I'm wiring my shop, I'm planning for future air conditioning (typical ducted gas furnace/AC unit).

There is about a 4' space on the outside wall between the building main electrical disconnect and a water faucet. This space is also the outside wall of the furnace closet and so would be an ideal location for the AC compressor.

Is there a limitation on how close the AC disconnect can be to the water faucet?

What about how close it can be to the main building electrical disconnect?

How close does the AC disconnect need to be to the compressor? I assume it has to be visible from the compressor location but is there a distance requirement?

Is there a mounting height requirement for the AC disconnect?

Thanks much for the help.

as the out side is a wet location i see no problem as long as you use a disconnect with at least a nema 3r rating

no restriction here other than all doors must open 90 degrees and all spaces must have 36 in of clear working space directly in front of the doors or covers

the disconnect must be within sight as defined by the code. they are usually right next to the ac unit

Is there a mounting height requirement for the AC disconnect?

the handle must not be higher than ft from ground level

Thanks much for the help.

DC,
If you plan on having it inspected, then I would be asking whoever is going to do the inspection. Although just about everyone uses the NEC, there are exceptions and additions that each jurisdiction might have.

Thought of one more question. I was told I could run Romex to the AC disconnect. Construction is 2x4 walls with brick.

Do I need to run conduit from the AC disconnect where the romex will go through the outside wall?

you could sleeve the wall with a short section of pvc if you like but as long as the hole is properly sized there is no requirement to do so. i would seal up the hole with caulking before you hang the disconnect.
