Can anyone identify this connector? This is for the headlights on a John Deere X748 garden tractor. The pins are fine, however they were pulled out of the connector body and don’t stay retained in the connector body anymore.

Pins are just crimped down and it looks like they need help. I'd just replace it with a GM "weatherpack" connector, which are very available.

Might try a google image search if you want that specific connector.

The pins are fine, however they were pulled out of the connector body and don’t stay retained in the connector body anymore.

This is a Metri-Pack 150 Sealed connector. This brochure helps show how the pieces go together: (turn the page and you'll see the part number for your connector body.) https://docs.rs-online.com/29e6/0900766b814c67ed.pdf#page=13

In my experience:
- The best place to get these components is Mouser.com
- Problems with terminal retention are typically due to the terminal

Your connector is probably fine. On the terminal, there is a metal "tang" that sticks up in the middle of the connector body:

You need to make sure that tang is bent up so that it depresses when the terminal slides into the body and then pops up and locks in to the connector body when inserted. (To remove a good terminal, one would need to stick a poker backwards into the connector body to depress this tang.)

Usually, you can bend this back and be good. If the tang is gone or if its soft like a bent paper clip, then a new terminal will need to be crimped onto the wire.

This connector also has a TPA retainer (the blue thing) at the back of the connector that should help keep everything together. If that piece won't stay on, you can get new ones. Again, Mouser is a great source for these and you can find the part number on page 14 in the brochure I linked above.

BTW - Your connector also looks really dirty. Its a sealed connector and shouldn't be this way...

Gunk getting in there can also interfere with the tang engaging properly. You might also buy a new female connector assembly and just canabalize it for the rubber connector seal. That should seal the male and female connector so dirt doesn't get inside. (The pins have seals crimped into the terminals that should keep dirt from coming in the back side of the connectors.

It's for a lawn tractor headlight. How often do you take it apart? I'd clean it up, shove it together, push it together w/ it's mate on the harness, and seal it all up w/ either silicone, or liquid electrical tape.

Thanks everyone. Connector ordered.

How about this one. This is the tail light socket for the same tractor. I searched for Delphi lamp socket but did not find a straight socket that looked like this. It is a 2 wire socket.

How do you guys search for connectors? There are so many I can never find what I am looking for. Do you need to at least o ow the manufacturer before you start digging?

Read the post I made above. Mouser will teach you tons and they have great catalogs and links that will teach you tons.

Here is the Delphi catalog for sockets: https://www.mouser.com/catalog/spec...4AylhAlbAT3okOJlj6xT-O_8eLMOyOSZCNVTyR9aOLNwZ

If you aren't sure about a part, you can check Mouser for links to the technical drawings. If they aren't there or there is a broken link, you can go straight to the Aptiv (now owns Delphi) Catalog, search for the part number and then download the .tif drawing to check measurements. https://www.aptiv.com/en/solutions/connection-systems/catalog

Delphi/Aptiv parts are pretty easy. The first step is finding the manufacturer of a connector. There will be a stamp or makers mark on the part that will relate to the OEM. From there, scan their catalogs to confirm the series of connector and then each manufacturer will have a catalog (online or printed) with the details.
