I want to mount a cord reel on a mobile work station. My plan is to cut both ends off the reel and reverse them, then wire some outlets into the workstation. Can anyone think of a reason this won’t work or isn’t a good idea?

I've done it on a rolling cart, where I wanted the cart to store the cord. The only issue I've had is that the retraction stop pawl on my reel keeps getting messed up by people who don't know how to use a cord reel.

Be sure that the reel has more current capacity than you plan for. Years ago, I burned out a light duty Craftsman drop light reel by using the outlet on the handle for a corded circular saw, corded drill, etc.
