Electrical Inspection?

We just passed our framing and insulaton inspection. We asked about the electrical, the inspector asked us back.." Did you take out a electrical permit?" We said "No"......So he said "Dont worry about it".....I had a licensed electrician do the work to code, And i want to board up the walls today....Do i have to go pull a electrical permit or just finish the dhop? I find it strange that the inspector said that!In my area,an electrical permit and final inspection are required for the building permit to get signed off.Its up to you if you want to break the law and get a permit or not,there may be a problem with your insurance company paying out IF something goes wrong,and you MAY run into some grief when it comes to sell the house.There is also a good chance that an electrical inspector may show up at random and have your power disconnected at the pole!If you go to the BCSA website,it will outline the steps to take out a Homeowner's Permit,however,don't plan on drywalling for another two weeks if you decide to go that route.

I agree with TFI....pull the permit and get it signed off....

Nothing worse than getting the drywall on and they come tell you to rip it off so they can inspect it....

I dont know BC codes but in wisconsin it would be mandatory. Also, when I went to sell my last 2 homes that I lived in I had to complete a form for the realtor that said that "I was not aware of any work having been done in the house without a permit that required one". It was explained to me that I could be held responsible if somthing happened after I sold it, that was caused by my faulty work.

My advice is to get the permit
