Hello I'm getting ready to run my outlets. Some of the outlets fall on the treated 6x6 posts. My question is, are the nails that come with the box galvanized? I cant find an answer. If not What's the best way to attach the boxes to the treated posts? Thanks.

Are these posts outdoors?

From a fastener corrosion standpoint, that doesn't really matter. Current ACQ treated lumber is quite corrosive, so it is suggested to use hot dip galvanized or stainless fasteners in it, whether indoors or out.

The reason I asked is, I initially thought he was fastening these boxes to outdoor posts in the ground. And I've never seen nail-on boxes that are weatherproof. So he might be using entirely wrong materials.

Good point.

Indoor. Pole barn.

I've never seen a nail-on box come with galvanized nails. The included nails will have no treatment whatsoever over the steel. They're usually 16 penny nails, so you can just swap out the nails with hot dip galvanized if you like.

Nail on boxes use common nails, the shank diameter is too large if other nails are used. Finding galvanized common nails might be easier said than done.

Maybe. I didn't think about that.
I usually snap them off the collated strips from my nail gun. I can't say I've bought boxed common nails in a while.

With ACQ-treated posts, the fasteners cost more than the framing.
It's a conspiracy, I tell you!

Bought some by accident many years ago, if I ever find them off to scrap they go.

Even the home depot has them around here.
