Above 1200 Sq/FT Electrical panel size

Newby female member is here- please go easy on me.
I’ve watched dozens of videos but WHERE do I find out the size of this box? Looking to add a 6-50r 250v to my panel for electrical car. Planning on 60 amp double pole breaker mounting less than 2 feet away from panel. 6 awg wire. Wondered if I should use 4 awg. Will pull less than 60 v. Using heavier duty Bryant outlet. I have completed basic electrical work in the past. Thank you!

The code states that a 50 amp receptacle must be supplied by either a 40 or 50 amp breaker.

#6 copper is fine.

Not sure why you need the size of the box?
you do need to know if the breaker serving that panel is large enough , and the type of panel so you can buy the proper breakers.
It looks like Square D breakers to me.

Indeed they are Square D.....Homeline as opposed to QO.

You'll need a HOM240 or 250.

If you want a 60a circuit for a evse, it needs to be hard wired (no receptacle and plug)

Is there a main breaker on the other side of the wall, or a breaker feeding this? Size of the box doesn't matter as much as amp rating. My guess is with 1/0 AL feeders it is a 100amp panel.

Also, looks like you have two white sheathed wires feeding into the left side breakers which appear to all be 20's. If they don't predate the color coding, they will be 14ga wire and not capable of handling 20 amp. You should address that too.

There are AFCIs, so it's fairly recent.
