Electrical Penetration thru Metal PBR Panel

Hello Everyone, and thanks to all of you for helping others. - I have searched and searched this forum for an answer to this, but have not found anything similar.

I have a detached building and will be installing a 60A subpanel off my homes 200A main service. - The interior building wiring is now complete and everything inside is now connected to the new 60A breaker panel. - The final step is to dig a trench and run my copper #4/3 w/ground from the house to the building. -

I am down to 2 questions....,

The building is sided with metal PBR panels. Is my only option to install an LB box on the outside of the building ? - My electrical penetration is facing the front of my building, so visually, I'd prefer something that might be a little less obvious when driving up to it.

Are there any NEC reqirements how far from the ground the penetration must be ? My breaker panel is inside and 54" above the finished floor. Can I make the exterior penetration 10" from the ground and run 44" of pvc conduit inside the building up to the breaker panel, or do I need to mount the LB box at the same height as the panel.

Those are my only 2 electrical related questions, but if anyone may have any tips/advice for digging a 100' trench from house to building, that would be appreciated as well. -

Sorry, good question and , I am in Dallas, Tx, snow is minimal at maximum of maybe 8". The building inspector is holding me up to NEC 2002 requirements.

If this is a new build, with a little bit of planning a conduit could have stubbed up in the planned location of the panel.

I actually did leave some penetrations thru the slab for electrical and plumbing, but the plans have changed and the electrical run is coming to a different area of the building. I thought about drilling a new penetration, but the building has a 10" wide perimeter beam, so I didn't want to drill thru that, and if I move it in past the beam, I'd be pulling the electric in a foot inside the interior wall, which would be obtrusive. - I can't think of a better way than thru the siding, just hoping for some aesthetically pleasing possibilities.

for digging your trench, you can rent a Toro "Dingo" with trencher attachment at most u-rent it type places. They are small enough to use by yourself, it has tracks and you walk behind it. I did a 130' trench 3ft deep when I laid my power to my bldg. in <3hrs. I think it was $80 for half a day.

Thanks Gunga, I just researched the Dingo. I'll check around some of the local rent it places to see what they have.
