Electrical round box outlet.

I have been hanging those Feit Led lights from costco in my garage but I have come accross a minor electrical issue i have never run in to. My house was built less than 5 months ago and I have two round boxes where they originally hung an individual bulb base in each. Now I want to put an outlet in the box but I am not sure how to do that because I can not figure out how to do that? It is just a regular blue plastic round box hung flush with drywall.

You have a few options. The easiest is to get Edison adapters that screw in and have a receptacle (usually without a ground) - not the option I would go with, but certainly the easiest and cheapest.

You can buy a round blank with a center punch out, get a screw in clamp/bushing, and then run the electrical cord from the lights through this and 'hard-wire' the lights in the existing round box - probably what I would do.

Another option would be to crawl in the attic, rip out the round boxes and replace them with single gang boxes that will accept a duplex receptacle. Or place a duplex into the existing round box by first screwing it into a round duplex cover, then securing the cover to the box. This will probably overfill the box though and creates a fire hazard. If you don't know what I mean by overfilling the box or how to calculate the fill, then pick one of the other options above.

Thanks, You know that gives me an idea. Since I have plenty of attic space, I could crawl uo there rip out the round box and put in a 4x4 box. There is 3 wire ran into that box, constant power for the openers that then jumps to the garage door openers and then the wire that is on the switch. I could just put two outlets. That would be the cleanest look i think.

Pretty sure HD, Lowes, and the like sell the plates like Traumadoc's second pic with an outlet already in it.

I cut the round box out and put a 4×4 box but luckily I had attic access. I put two outlets in it a white outlet and a gray outlet. The gray has constant power and the white on the switch . I hung a power reel by it to. It Looks good I am glad I went that route. Thanks guys.
