Since Charles GA posted a thread about counterfeit hardware and the realted safety.....I thought I would post this one regarding electrical design of power supplies.

It is relivant in that your average CFL or LED bulb is going to use a similar design in order to get the AC voltage to a level needed for the CFL or LED. In the case of a CFL, it's a bit easier....but LED's need a fairly sophisticated power supply....hence the heat sinks and cost.

And then we had the thread a few days ago about the "warm GFI" socket....I would be willing to bet they didn't have a power supply that looked like the one in the pic.

It's good reading for those that are electroncially inclined.
