Electrical Terminal Kit

I'm tired of running to town for different size wire terminal pieces. Be interested in buying a few different kits to keep on hand for when I need them. Any ideas of where to look? Would like just a little bit of everything included.

Do a search on Amazon. I don’t remember now which kit I got, but it was pretty good.

I would suggest going to your big box or ebay or amazon and buy packages of the stuff you typically use, like male and female disconnects, ring terminals, grommets, etc. Those kits may be full of stuff you'll never use. I have a kit from the 80's and some of the pieces I've never had a need for. If you buy online, get them from known manufacturers, Ideal, GB, Buchanan, etc. My experience with generic Chinese terminals from ebay was not good. The metal was thin and would not cinch on the wire.

I would also be sure to buy the fittings that are heat shrink with a solder ring.

I would trust on-line sources such as Waytek, Del City, or Powerwerx over Amazon. While you might be able to find quality stuff there, most of it is chinese ****, just like you will find on eBay. Yeah, there will be all these glowing reviews about how peoples life improved because they used these products, but the majority of them are written by the offshore sellers (they have 1.3 billion people to write them for them)

What kind of work are you using this for? Trailer repair, automotive, home electrical? I tend to buy what I need from waytek, mouser and delcity type places, but your needs may vary. I always buy 100 of whatever terminal I am adding to my collection.

It's been moved but the blue box was a napa sale deal at the time and been refilled bulk. Got some brand and a bunch from a flea vendor had whole truck load. I rarely use the water traps,, or the shrink, that **** I enclose most of the time or simply crimp and penetrate spray with the straw, seems to last about as well.
Since been moved to better spot, we use it a lot.

I've been looking around at your suggestions. Del City is proud of their stuff. I'm normally all for buying quality, but don't know how I feel about paying $1+ for each connector. Powerwerx seems to be out of stock of most of the common connectors. Waytek looks to have some good choices. Amazon has plenty of choices all across the board on price.

I've personally never used the solder/seal **** connectors. How well do those work?

Get a parts organizer...then go to DigiKey and buy the connectors you want and fill it.

I have a bunch of those organizers, each one set up for a different task. I have one that is just hangers and anchors. Another one for plumbing....etc

The other night a neighbor called and asked my help putting up some bathroom fixtures....(I wish I could post pics, she is 25 and drop dead ******* gorgeous). He mom is not bad either.....

Anyway...went over there with my organizer and drill....it had everything I needed.

I've got a few of those sliding drawer cabinets. Looks like that will be my best option to just fill that up with what I want.

Buy some Blue, Red, Yellow terminals and splices for a good start.

TIP! Buy a good pair of crimp pliers....... Not a "multi tool" that strips wire and cuts screws.

I tried to find exactly where I got this but wasn’t Amazon. Must have been eBay but was too long ago to see in history.

If you put the part numbers in eBay, you can find the sellers. One of them said ‘made in the US’. Sounds about right. I was looking for higher quality than the low end Asian stuff you typically get everywhere.

I don’t know if it was this seller, but the part numbers match.

I have the 3M Electric Terminal Kit (STK1) and it's very nice.

You're right, the crimpers in that 3M set do **** but the Scotchlok terminals are great, plus I'm partial to the Durham Manufacturing boxes. I have a nice pair of ratcheting crimpers that I use...

Those are VERY good crimpers

Those ratchet crimpers do an outstanding job. But there are a lot of times I find they are just too bulky to get into where I need to be crimping. So I go back and forth between them and the old school Klein crimper.

Let's not forget our friends at astro pneumatic when it comes to the ratchet crimping pliers. Bought a set and love them.
