With winter upon us, I'd rather not have to brave the weather to repeatedly clean the crud off the 4 pieces of rebar in my backyard electrolysis bucket.

I understand that using graphite bar or flats in place of steel in an electrolysis tank greatly reduces or eliminates the buildup of crud on the anodes.

My search for graphite rods or bars has not turned up anything that I consider reasonably priced (its just pencil lead). I know Outlaw and others are using or plan to use graphite for their anodes; does anyone have an affordable source?

Mucho thanks.

I'm still trying to find out if my broken graphite golf shafts might work. if they do I'll have plenty and maybe some to share so if anybody knows that answer please speak up. I would love a source for 100% graphite too since I'm close to having my Electrolysis tank set up. If it's cleaner and does just as good of a job as steel, then I'm a customer.

It's not really worth it IMHO. Where are you located? See if you have any EDM shops or graphite distributors that cater to EDM shops in your area. I've bought broken pieces of graphite rod from them back when I was into rockets.

I used a scrap section of expanded metal and wrapped the inner surface of a 5 gallon bucket. I cleaned two vises with it. The scum washed off easily with a hose.
