I need to get a hose reel. Hold a 75 footer 3/4 hose. The hose feels like it's an inch inch hose.....it's one heavy thick mutha.....

Familar with the Cox, etc but considering Eley for the Garden Hose Reel. The Eley is just a plastic bushing that rides on a shaft.
I dunno long term how well it will be with maybe up to 125ft of hose on it, and maybe some partial with water....it will be heavy.

Anyhow, I did see some older Eley posts here over a GJF so I'm sure someone current/present may have one.
Let me hear it. Love it. Like it. ? Not crazed about some parts being aluminum on the water inlet - wish it was all brass. Alum just galvanizes...in the elements

I’ve had one for two years. I have no complaints. I was also concerned with some of the aluminum parts. But I haven’t had any issues yet. And I bet if you did slay would take care of it?

Contact them with your concerns and see what they say.

My two are still going strong, need to read my other posts to figure out how long I’ve had them. Bought them before the pushed the name Eley so much. Don’t roll them out daily but no signs of corrosion in my salt air environment.

Have only had my Eley reel and hose for a few months but absolutely love them! The quick disconnects are the best I’ve ever seen! I got the freestanding version for inside the garage but will be getting the wall mount version this spring and move the freestanding to the back yard. Highly recommend! I also have a Coxreel for a pressure washer and feel that they very equal in quality.161B0291-B2E5-4168-9282-9EAAB10981F3.jpeg

I've had larger Coxreels/Reelcraft. IMO the paint/powdercoat on these is nice and thick - compared to the Eley I saw which seem -covered- but thin....

My experience with such a large hose length/girth with the Reelcraft/Cox - if memory recalls, I had like 200 ft pressure washer hose in it, it was slightly thicker than the normal hose - this Goodyear hose had like the spiral outer jacket and it was a #@@#!@# to reel and unreel dry just due to sheer weight of the hose on the reel. This reel was on bearings....

I am just not sure given the length and the hose I'm using *not your typical 5/8" special but a 3/4 Underhill that feels like it's more like a 1" hose.....will the mass of the hose be the same/similar experience on the Eley

I know they have gotten flack for moving production to asia, and I am not sure if that has affected quality. 9/10 they don't move to asia to increase quality. YMMV

I have 3 Eley hose reels. Two wall mounted and one post mounted. No complaints. I should have ordered the expansion drum piece to increase the reel capacity; we have a S-load of garden hose. I think these are now 2-3 years old.

Surprised you found Eley products heavy?? One of their selling points, at least for just the hoses is that they are made of Polyurethane and are much lighter than regular hoses. They also claim kink free. While no hose will be totally kink free I must say the Eley does live up to it's reputation!

It's is lighter than any other hose I have ever used.
Do note they now use the garbage lead free brass so the connections are not as good as they use to be. They will corrode and gall easily since they lack lead in the alloy.

Tester - you misread my post. The new hose I plan to use in it very -heavy-. I've seen the Eley 5/8 polyhose on the leader hose size as a reference. I believe the hose I am using may appear 3X overall thicker + weight. Weight meaning if the hose is not rolled out, water inside. Starting off with a 75 footer, but I have another 75 footer I may couple to it.

It's 3/4 but if you're glancing at it without knowing the hose, you would easily guess it's 1" hose. I know a similar load on a bearing based reel was quite a chore. Not sure how well or not it will behave on the plastic bushing based real of the Eley...It sure has its fans, and it's aluminum, so it can be mounted outdoors unlike the cox/reelcraft steel variants.
