Eliminating corners?

Just like kitchen cabinets, it seems like corners in a workshop tend to inefficiently gobble up space. I'm considering going cornerless for my new shop -- like this:

The scale is 1 square per foot, so most of my work surfaces are 2.5ft deep. I also left 2.5ft of standing room in each "non-corner". 3ft may be better but this space has to host soldering electronics, reloading, machining metal, AND woodworking and at 12x29 space is at a premium.

Has anyone else tried this? And whether you have or haven't, what do you think?

Interesting idea for maximizing workspace but I always manage to find infrequently moved or accessed stuff to put in the corners.

Use those double shelf lazy susans that are used in kitchen corner cabinets and build corner cabinets to fit. It's a good place to store lighter things (paper towel rolls, boxes of shop rags, etc) that would otherwise take up more valuable space like bench tops or in heavier duty drawers and cabinets.

The corners are where I put my mobile workbench and other mobile tools like the table saw.

I really like your idea utilizing the corner space. One thing I would suggest is to 45 the corners of the benches that are 2.5 feet behind the bench space in the corners. I have seen this done in kitchen base cabinets. The first 6 to 9 inches of the corner is 45ed to prevent you from running into it.

That is an excellent idea, thanks!
