I'm new to the Garage Journal but became interested when my father recently passed away and left me his mechanic tools. He had a nice assortment of mid 50's to mid 70's tools and I'm going to try posting a few of them....hopefully to learn more about them.

Attached (hopefully, if I've uploaded properly) is an elora 1/2" socket wrench, model 770L/1, stamped MADE IN GERMANY....probably 1960's. After WWII, East German companies were forced to stamp "Made in DDR" on their products, however West Germany did not enact similar legislation until around 1974....hence my thought that this one is 1960's to early 70's. If anyone knows more, I'm all ears.

Nice.

There is a "Tools from the old world" thread which, as far as I am concerned, is one of the best and most informative threads on the tinternet regarding new European stuff.

Maybe there should be an "Old Tools from the old world" thread where this kind of stuff could go.

Can't seem to enlarge your photos though to get a better look.

It was a little unclear to me as to how to upload the pics at a larger size. The upload tool seems to indicate a max. size which is much smaller than the full screen views I see with other members' pictures. I'd be glad to get advice on this and re-post larger format pics.

As far as the wrench,,,,yaah, I think it has a very elegant shape...not something you see on the modern ones, or even older American ones.

Thanks for taking a look. I'll post some other interesting tools of my dad's soon.
