Hey guys, just wanted to get some feedback on Elora wrenches and how they compare to the other german brands (Hazet, Stahlwille, Gedore etc) and the better American brands like Snap On and Matco. Any feedback would be appreciated.

They're very good, strong and very thin. I can't really draw a direct comparsion to any of the other wrenches I have but I'd have to assume they would compare favorably to the other euro makes. I would perfer Snap On to them on the whole but not by a lot.

I have a lot of Elora tools and really like them. For wrenches, strength wise they are as good as any of the other brands you mentioned. Finish wise, perhaps just below Hazet and Stahwille. Definitely a european feel, i.e good grip and nicely shaped, but no super glossy chrome finish. If you get a good buy on them, I say pick them up. I just bought two sets of NOS combo wrenches in inch sizes 5/16" - 3/4" The wrenches say made in West Germany! They are the 205 series.

Bloomertool.com has a large set of 205s for a good price. Comparably they are much cheaper than a SO set brand new and they have the exotic factor ;)

My Elora tools have to be the nicest tools I own. They seldom get mentioned, but to me they make snap-on look like junk. Honest! I have never seen those wrenches in person so I can't speak to them.

I bought a set of Elora wrenches that came in a toolbox I bought from guy who quit the business. I wasn't all that Impressed, Sharp edges in the box end and rough finish. They look like the tools that came in my Goldwings tool kit

I've had my 205s (5.5mm-41mm) for over 3 years and love them. The open ends are slim, they fit better than the Snap-ons they share a drawer with, the finish is very good. The 205s also have the slightly deeper cranked offset which i much prefer over the offset of the Snap-on wrenches. The slim open ends allow them to fit into spaces where others won't (Brake caliper slider pins being one.) and they're very strong. I measured the tolerances of them and mine were all the same or tighter than Snap-on, for a tenth (literally) of the cost.

I don't go easy on mine and they've never once let me down. Some have chipped chrome, but so do my Snap-on ones and various others in my posession. I have a few different types of Elora wrenches and will be buying more soon.

Buy them, you won't regret it.

I don't have any Hazet, Stahlwille or Gedore wrenches, but i do have Snap-on ones and i reach for the Eloras every time.

The 205s are the best Elora combination wrenches, and, i believe, are among the best out there for all things considered. (For the price you really can't beat them.)

Thanks! sounds like a great line of wrenches. Stupid question, would you happen to know if it is possible to get them warrantied if anything happens?

They're really good. Haven't found any other i'd rather have. I'd reccomend the 205s on the virtue of the cranked offset of the ring end, as opposed to the normal 15 degrees (?) used by everyone else.

Don't know about warranty, but i really doubt you'd need it. I've linked mine and hit them with deadblow hammers and have let to leave a trace of damage let alone break one.

If i remember i'll take the camera tomorrow and take some pics for you.

very cool. I have a craftsmen set and looking to upgrade. I'll probably end up getting a SO set down the line however the Elora set really caught my eye. I think its like $560 or so for a set from 6mm-32mm , 26 pieces all together.

Don't bother getting the Snap-on ones for standard combination wrenches, they don't really offer anything over the Eloras except a shiny nickel finish. I paid £145 for my 22-piece Elora set. A near-identical Snap-on set (also 22 pieces) was £1,260. No-brainer, really.

I'm not a DIYer, i use mine all day every day as a mech. I don't go easy on them but don't abuse them per-se either, in a pinch i've had to link them or hit them with dead-blow hammers and they just take it. Not a single problem so far.

Their flare nut wrenches are great too, excellent fit. Never rounded anything with mine. Their zero-offset double-ring end wrenches are great too (middle top) and i use them all the time. The ring ends are very slim which is great in tight places, yet they're very strong too.

awesome! thanks for the pics! yeah we have a shop here and we are looking to upgrade a lot of our hand tools so I am doing as much research as possible. We have several SK wrench sets (ratcheting wrenches) however our "rudimentary" hand tools are in need of an upgrade.

are they still 150GBP? I am looking at the 22 piece set on a UK site for 240 GBP(~$400usd with tarrifs)

//but then again the 12 piece set is on sale on that site for 62gbp, so 150 for the 22 is believable

You won't be disappointed with Elora. I don't feel any need to "upgrade" from them, only to buy more. ;)

£175 now. £240 is ridiculous.

IIRC draper is the parent company of Elora and use them for the top end stuff (kinda like VW and bugatti i think)
Ive got some of the 3/4" stuff and its just ****** bullet proof!!

i'll back up what moose and polo say, these wrenches don't have the nice shiney looks of the snap on's but there the best "bang for the buck" out there period, i wouldn't worry about warranty on these things they will last a lifetime, you know one of the good things about dull/matty finnishing is you can chuck em around all you want and at the end of the day they still look the same

Draper are just an importer/stockist. Same as they do for Knipex, they just have a contract with Elora to bring certain lines here, they don't own them or have any stake in them.
