Ive heard you cant export that file to use in your own CNC machines... so its a free "CAD" program, not a free CAD program. Only they can use the drawings.

I hear ya. Id be happy with a regular mill. Also, I heard the software is pretty "basic" compared to the stuff commonly used. I use an Autodesk Program.

Solidworks is scary. But in a good way. It is the most amazing software I've ever used. Intuitive, is the only way to describe it.

I had Autocad for years and tooks a Solidworks class. That was the last time I touched any other CAD software. The only downside is the $6,000-12,000 price tag (with CAMworks).

Get the student version and play, it's amazing. The tutorials are very good.

If you want to see what SW can do, I've got a few more examples of our work on our site: www.RXDi.com <---look under the photo galleries

the down side is that I can't show the really fun work. Too proprietary.

Wow, that's pretty cool Reflexx. I have solidworks and have played with it a few times. It seems extremely advanced for a beginner like me though. It will definitely take some time to figure everything out.

I am in the midst of converting from ACAD to Inventor and SW. Converting my thinking kinda ***** - I still haven't figured things out. I guess I have been brainwashed in ACAD for too long.
