Emptying out a Garage

A longtime friend of mine asked me if I could help his aunt clean out her garage. I guess her husband passed away and had a garge full of projects. I'm told he was a machinist and had bridgeports, lathes and some other stuff. I saw pics of a large metal shear, and a bead roller. I'm told that there are a few vehicles and some engines floating around the place. I am currently trying to touch base with her to see what she has and create a plan of attack. But once I know what there is and exacttly what she wants to do. I'll most likely be posting on here. So if anybody is in the area of Northeast Ohio or close enough to travel some for the right deal, then let me know you are interested in what I find. I guess I'm the middle man on this thing.

That should be a good project. Any decent machinery ought to move pretty quick. There are a couple of home machinist boards that you can post on too. There's nothing around here much anymore and anything that was around here got sucked up when Midland/Odessa came back on line with the oil and gas boom.

There are a few on the boards from Ohio and the area. Remember, you can never take too many pictures.

SWO... any Pinto parts in there let me know. :)

I know a few older Pinto guys from NE Ohio, but I haven't heard from in a while; I hope it wasn't one of them. :(

THIS IS GOING TO BE A LITTLE LONG WINDED.

Ok, I was going to post the pictures that I've taken and that she gave me... But I can't seen to get photobucket to work from my works computers. The page keeps coming up with a page error. So, unless somebody can tell me how else to post pics, I'm S.O.L. until I can get time at home to do it.

But I do have a list of most of the big equipment:

Bridgeport mill $1000
Goodway Lathe GW-1422 $3000
Reid grinder $400
Rush model 252 drill & tool grinder $1800
Surface grinder $400 (no name or numbers)
Baldor polisher cat#333b $325
Carolina Tool & Equip. Bandsaw Model HD10 $500
Bead Roller no name model RM12 $100
Rexto (Peck Stow & Wilcox Break) Model #137-H Sheet metal shear $500
Coats 40/40A Tire Changer $500
Solar 165 Wire Feed Welder $400
Collins Chopsaw Model #315SA $800 (3 Phase)
Framing table 10' x 4'8" $1200

As I said this is a list of the big stuff. She is trying to off load the big stuff first. The prices are from her, I've checked most of them and from what I have found seem to be mostly in line with what is out there. But everything is open to reasonable offers.
Apparently her husband was a tool maker by trade and set up a shop at home. Well, the bad news is he passed away in May and now she just needs to sell everything.

Walking into the garage was overwhelming, the amount of stuff was just amazing. I started to feel like I was suddenly on American Pickers. He was starting a project on a mid 60's Ford Fairlane and has new framerails made, a mustang II front suspension, a narrowed 9", a couple of 390 FE motors. I guess the easiest way is going to be to list some of what I saw while walking around for almost 2 hours.

mid 60's Ford Fairlane, gutted, many new parts in the garage
63 Ford F 100
Mid 60's Chevy pick up
Hoosier slicks 33 x 16 x 15 on wheels
90's Chevy LT1, built, but unknown specs. nice intake and roller rockers.
86-94 Chevy 350 short block on stand. casting 14093638 unknown condition
Chevy heads casting 3986339 307-350 67-79 1.72in/1.50 ex
either a 429 or a 460, couldn't any #'s
couple of 390 FE
several FE intakes and misc parts
Toploader and bellhousing
a couple of beltsanders
a fairly new Porta power Central Hyd 10 ton
Tig welder
Torch set w/ cart
Set of 4, looks like Pontiac 15x7 honeycomb style wheels
many tool boxes

The guy wasn't on the list of the most organized people. And apparently had the thought process "I can't find it, I'll buy another one". There tools and parts all over the place. Once I can get into my pictures I'll post what I have. There is approx. 63 pics.

I'd also be interested in the Bridgeport and in the no name grinder. Possibly the Reid if it is all there. I am assuming that is the magnetic chuck on the right end of the table. I'll send you a PM in a little while. The nurse just pulled in for dressing changes.

I found the car while on vacation in Seattle in 2007. It was sitting in a garage partly disassembled for about 10 years. Got a real good price on her.

Im interested as well, but the prices are a little high (to me)to make the drive worth it for me.

Im not saying they are bad, just have tthat I have to factor in fuel and time. Ill see if a buddy is interested in anything and that way fuel is cut in half

Where in NE ohio are you? Im in Dayton

ok cool let me know , I know usps has flate rate boxed up to 70#. How much you think that vice weighs ?

I just googled the vise and I saw a vise that somewhat looks the same and the weight is listed at 115 lbs. And the ebay price is at $425. Now this is just me doing a little research on the items. I am planning on going to her place next week again. While I am there I will see if there is any model # or identifing features to get a more accurate price and weight. I did also see some posts of people saying a much lower pricing.

Nice Fairlane, I'm a little partial to the 66/67 body (I have a 67). Whats the story on it? The floor pans look sour but the rest looks mostly solid. Clear title?

How about those new quarters, are you parting with those?

What other Fairlane parts did you find?

Looks like the Fairlane was going to get some mods. You might get $2500 for that mess if you bundle the car, parts, MII and rear parts. But it'd be a project and you'd be waiting on a guy with money and raw project guts. The good thing is that 66/67 Fairlane parts are all over.
