EMT to PVC Conduit transition

I have all surface mounted EMT conduit on the interior of my garage. I'm going to transition to PVC outside for the gate power. There is a junction box on the interior wall 3ft from the hole in the wall to the outside. Should I make the EMT to PVC transition at the j box and have a small section of PVC coming out of the box and through the wall? OR, should I stay with all EMT on the interior, and transition with an EMT LB (inside) to PVC LB (outside)?

If it's better to use the LBs, what should run through the wall - EMT or PVC? Will EMT conduit fit into a PVC LB as is, or do I need an adapter?

Thank you for all your help, this forum is a great resource.

I would go with pvc from the junction box. That way you don’t have to adapt the emt to pvc.

I would use emt from the box to a metal lb, emt through the wall to another metal lb. Use a pvc male adapter out the bottom of the second lb to make the transition.

Please keep in mind that the ground path you had from using EMT has been lost and you will need a grounding conductor for the PVC.
