Guy's I bought a 20' Enclosed trailer and want to know if there is a animal like this.

I have a generator with a 120/240 volt 30 amp plug in on it. I want to run one cord to the trailer and have it where I just plug it into the side of the trailer and have 110 inside the trailer for lights and stuff. Where can I find this stuff. Here are the pictures of the trailer and plug in on the generator.
:shocking:

I'd go to an RV place, they'll have what you want. I think Northern Tool may also carry stuff like that.

I have done this on a couple of trailers. The first time I just used a 15 amp power inlet. Worked good for lighting, but it was only 15 amps.

On the trailer I did last year is used a 30 amp Marinco power inlet.

do you want power in the trailer for lights, or do you want all of the generator power available in the trailer? If the case is the latter, you need a weatherproof L14-30 inlet on the trailer wired to a small subpanel, with breakers for lighting and your receptacles. Make sure the ground is bonded to the frame of the trailer. Then you have a 10/4 SOOW cable with L14-30 male and female on it to go between the generator and the trailer.

If you only need power for lights, then just use a regular extension cord, with a weatherproof inlet installed on the trailer.

If you need help with the twistlock stuff, shoot me a PM I have all that.

All I want is to have over head 110 lights and some outlets that can handle 110 only. I don't want to blow the generator up though either.:shocking:

what do you want to plug into those 120v outlets? You will save quite a bit of cash if you cant get by with one 20 amp circuit off the generator vs bringing the 30 amp 4 wire circuit into the generator.

ok, then get a small 4 space breaker panel to install in your trailer, supply it from a L14-30 weatherproof inlet, and get an appropriate length 10/4 SOOW cable with L14-30 connectors. In the subpanel, make sure you keep the neutral and ground seperate. Bond the ground to the frame of the trailer. Make sure the generator has the neutral and ground bonded.

How do you plan on doing the wiring inside the trailer?

Going to buy the conduit and mount everything in the corner of the trailer. Was going to buy the track lights at Lowes for the ceiling so I can move them around as needed. Put a couple of outlets down the side and 1 outside.:shocking:

I got one of those for the outside of my trailer but I am still trying to figure out what to put on the inside. How did you wire that up? Did you put in a small breaker box? and then put a circuit off that?

Our motorhome has a bunch of those Marinco outlets. They are made of stainless steel, designed for large boats and yachts to last a lifetime. Highly recommend. Need to install a backing plate or gusset to firmly hold the Marinco fitting.
