It looks like MSC is throwing us a bone with this coupon code for previous Enco customers.

Up to 40% off (no min.) and free shipping over $49. (lowest of 40% off or the sale price).

Code is ENCO40 and good for 3 days.

That's a 40% off with no minimum + free shipping over 49$? And we can get the Enco pricing? If so that's one hell of a bone to throw!

Yup there's a lot "fine print" with that coupon. The 40% off is off the current catalogue price not the sale price listed on the website.

You are supposed to get the lower of the 40% off cat price or the sale price. So NOT 40% off the price displayed.

Sure and I understand that it should be off the current catalog price...but when I added the mill to my cart it only took off 20% and not 40%. I didn't see any limitations on machinery.

Here's the fine print: I bolded the part that they are probably catching you on. Or call or chat and see what they say.

Enter code ENCO40 in the promotional code box in the Shopping Cart when ordering online. Promotional price will be reflected at Checkout.

*Certain exclusions apply. Discounts may not apply to certain vendors. Offer subject to change or cancellation without notice. For sale items, discount will be taken off of current catalog price. If an item has an online or sale price and a promotion code is applied, MSC will automatically provide you the lowest of those prices and the discounted price. Items are discounted up to the discount shown or to the maximum extent possible for a particular manufacturer. Offer only valid within the contiguous 48 States (AK, HI, PR and International orders are excluded). Offer subject to change or cancellation without notice. Free Ground Shipping is not valid on COD orders. Free Ground Shipping is valid on small parcel standard ground orders for customers who do not participate in any UPS collect, 3rd party billing or consignee billing program. Not valid for “Get It Next Day”, Next Day Air Saver or any premium air upgrades. If you would like to upgrade you can upgrade your order for an additional charge at time of checkout. Offer ends at 11:30pm EDT.

Is this perhaps by invite only? I would settle for just free shipping but code is coming back not valid even after logging in.

Prices on Kant Twist clamps are better at ENCO with No coupon than they are at MSC with special enco pricing & coupon...

I saw this the other day on some other items. So the promise by MSC that we will get the same Enco pricing built into our accounts at MSC is total ********. Complete garbage by MSC.

I was looking this kit http://www.mscdirect.com/product/details/36409803. This morning the price was $283. A few hours after the coupon email, it was raised to $356. That's blatant.

I'm logged into my MSC account that was created as a result of the Enco shut down. It shows the price as $284.85. That's 20% off list price. If I add the "enco40" code, the price does not change.

MSC might as well just advertise "SAVE UP TO 99%" if everything seems to be subject to exclusions as it appears right now.

Enco was nice while it lasted.

There's always KBCtools.com. As a bonus they tend to have better quality cutting tools available: R&N taps, Niagara Cutter end mills, etc.

I liked the comment "Save Up to 99%"

True that saving some is better than saving none but I'd prefer they not tempt me with 40% off and I not be able to actually find anything I don't really need but would buy if I could get it at 40% off their regular pricing.

Items that I bought from enco on sale, do show come up on msc at the price I last bought them for through enco. And I did add a few things to my cart through MSC today, and the pricing is cheaper then it was last week.

I ordered 4 leveling feet from msc last week for 10.60 a piece, which was better then Mcmaster. And on par with the questionable leveling feet I found on ebay. With the 40%, they are now showing up at 10.25 each. Not a huge break vs the base discount applied coming from a Enco customer, but its something.

On the plus side, those leveling feet showed up to my house the very next day. With Enco, it would take them a good 2-3 days just to ship my order out the door.

So you can still find some good prices, but you do need to shop around and compare a bit more. Overall I am not as upset over the merger now that I have checked prices on a few items, and even placed a order. I will probably place another order with them this week with the current 40% off promotion.

ENCO40 is not working for me when adding a torque wrench to the cart :(

Did you go thru the registration process of converting your Enco account over to MSC? I think you have to do this to get the 40% off coupon to work.

I was looking at buy a cleveland drill bit set. The msc price was 139 when I applied my 40% code the price started at full list 230 something and then with the discount went to 137.00. Was a big savings of 2 bucks. I got the same set from enco last year for 99 bucks. I am going to miss Enco.

Did not work & I have already transferred/continued my account from Enco, and I was signed in.
Just to find an item that the minus 40% to work was impossible (for my time available), I randomly clicked on any item and added it to my cart (over and over...). Nothing accepted or utilized the -40%, it may or may not be a bait & switch situation but it definitely does not feel 100% above board.

Just ordered some 72" shafting and it didn't apply at all for either the discount or free shipping. I'm a regular MSC user though and this is normal tactics for them. I'll keep using them but it's difficult to work really good deals through them. Still a fantastic alternative to McMaster for me though and the Next Day Air Saver is a life saver for my business.

I've bought stuff from MSC (with their coupons) and ENCO over the past few years. Most (and probably all) of the MSC coupons had this 'up to' criteria. I also had one case with MSC where everything showed the sale prices even the shopping cart and e-mail they sent me, but then they billed me the full price. I caught it and with a few calls fixed it but something you should check. Once I got on the ENCO mailing list I never used MSC as the prices even if you waited for their best deals always seemed to be much lower at ENCO.

I've been totally slammed with work so I haven't had any time to deal with this but I bet if you call ENCO they will make it right with the promo code for what you have in your basket as long as it meets the small print.

I will have to say as much as I would like to order huge amounts of stuff from ENCO one last time but I think I'm just over it.

It was good while it lasted but I guess MSC is doing it's job weeding out customers like us and I'm totally ok with that. MSC is operating it's business the way it wants to and I will always continue to make purchases where I see fit.

MSC will have to do much better in convincing me to do business with them. With the service, quality and prices that they offer; MSC Direct is not a winner nor the only place in town. There are many other fine establishments that offer the same or better prices for the same goods.

I'm finding the MSC Direct sale promo's are just spam, nothing of substance or worth clicking on.

MSC is dead to me. I've unsubscribed from all their emails.

Over the past few months I've chased the coupons they've sent me and they've never saved me much, if anything, on the products I needed.

I've had better luck with ENCO % off & free shipping coupons for items that never go on sale like punches and dies. But like with Zoro you always have to cross check against other stores to see where you really aren't saving even with all the incentives.

So far Zoro has been doing great for me, however, their 15% off (Z-Mail) never worked for me, always took off $5 instead of the $20 I projected,

This is the email response I received from MSC. I've spent about $6k over the last 4 years with Enco,......interesting she can't find my account. I am registered at both places with identical login information.

Dear Jason

Thank you for contacting MSC regarding the ENCO transition.

We understand your concerns and we want to assure you that every effort is being made to ensure that this transition is seamless for you.

After careful consideration this decision was made because it allows us to provide more value to our customers at the same price for you, and a lower cost for us.

My apologies, I was unable to locate your ENCO account. If you would be so kind to supply us with your account information and the items you were hoping to purchase.

Once this information is received we will work with our team, making sure that the account is properly set-up to receive the ENCO pricing/discounts.

We appreciate your business, and we hope to continue to serve you at MSC!

Very well put, mirrors my thoughts as well. MSC has the right to run their business as they see fit, and if having Enco bleed off sales isn't working for them, or maybe it's unprofitable, or maybe it's not worth going after the little guys like us, who knows, then that's how it is.

I'll miss Enco too, and MSC's current '40% off' shenanigans don't endear me to them, but they're a big player and have a good reputation as a solid supplier. I'm openminded and ready to be convinced if they want to try again in the future.
