There isn't an official thread for Enco that I'm aware of, so why don't we use this thread to consolidate them into one place, as well discuss any hot deals on items.

For those that don't know what Enco is, they are an industrial machinery and tooling supplier of both import and domestic name brand items. They also carry hand tools and raw materials. Their website is iffy at best, but some good things can be found if you can figure it out.

http://www.use-enco.com/

Promo codes good till 4/14/16 at 11pm ET:

SAVE15 to take 15% off orders of $49 or more
SAVE20 to take 20% off orders of $99 or more
SAVE25 to take 25% off orders of $199 or more

It would be awesome to keep this thread alive, Instead of having to post new threads about anther sale each time one come up and then having to keep answering the same questions about what are good deals and on how to navigate Enco's terrible website.

This thread needs to become a Sticky otherwise I'm afraid it will get deeply buried in the pages until someone remembers to go looking for this thread and make a post to resurrect it.

Awesome....just wish their site was a lil easier to use

I agree...even harder to find things than Zoro. I typically search for an item, select on one, doesn't really matter what, then click on the master catalog page. This at least gets me so I can compare like items easily. The Hot Deals catalog works well though.

As for some deals, Kant Twist clamps are on sale right now on Enco. These are some awesome USA made clamps. The 415 clamp (4-1/2" ***********) is $12.79 w/ the 20% promo. Amazon has it for $20.30, Zoro with a 30% off would be $14.21.

I wish I had stayed up last night and seen this. I've got a bunch of things circled in the Hot Deals booklet to buy. When I get home from work I'll post my list of deals like the last thread.

In the mean time though, I'll post this because it will help people in the future. If you don't have some rolocs to play with get them they are coooool.

Firworks Pro-patentated Roloc Starter Kit®™:
Roloc Type R 2" 1/4" Arbor:
505-6258
1/4-20 Arbor:
505-6261
2" Coarse Roloc
NH240-3567
2" Medium Roloc
NH240-3568
2" Very Fine Roloc
NH240-3569
2" 120 Grit Roloc Bristle Disc
505-6232
2" 80 Grit Roloc Bristle Disc
505-6239
2" 50 Grit Roloc Bristle Disc
505-6236

The actual roloc discs I linked are BrightStart brand and not 3M. They're a little cheaper and I've been using them and they seem fine. One word of warning is those coarse are aggressive as the dang! They will seriously remove some material and leave you in a cloud of rust. The Bristle Discs are better for general rust cleanup on interfaces between parts. They also work nicely on things like wheel hubs. I'll hopefully have a video up in the next few days of replacing my rear brakes on my Jetta, and in it I used some Rolocs to clean up the hub some.

One more thing to think of is, the arbor has a 1/4" shaft so it's too large to use in most rotary tools. They're designed to use in a die grinder, but you can also use them in a cordless drill that has some speed to it: something like the Fein ASCM QX18 which hits 4K rpm. Milwaukee also makes an 2438 M12 tool which can sand and also buff. It comes with a Roloc arbor that mounts in it and is compatible with the discs above.

While this is not on the Hot Deal list, I still find it very useful and a really good price for the quality. Great to have in the shop, I constantly use mine for squaring up machines and always using it for reference.

I have a lot of nice squares from Starrett and Brown & Sharpe but this one is just as accurate and because it's so cheap ($19 shipped), I don't mind using it.

Markal Pens for $2.60 are awesome.

Thanks, I'll try out these pens. I see some are oil resistant. I'm frustrated with Sharpies that stall out on a surface with the least little oil or humidity on the surface.

I'm gonna grab some of those Kant Twists. I've never had one before but I see them used on videos all the time.

Yep, good suggestions. I was just using that thread detective the other night. Though it didn't have the size I needed which was an obscure metric, it is still really handy.

Angle Plates are super cheap from Enco on these sales. I use them when doing glue ups in woodworking projects.

You should be happy with these, big improvement over Sharpie's. I recommend the lt. blue.

Finally ordered the pads and mandrels for the roloc pads I got a while back. 20% and free shipping is always a nice deal, though it seems common enough that I don't really see a reason to order from them without using a coupon code or two. So it'll be nice if we can keep this thread going and update it instead of making a new thread for every deal.

Never used Enco before but I have been needing some Rolocs for a while and decided to bite the bullet on them since they are on sale and able to get the discount no matter the order size.

Any opinions on their US-made extension cords? Specifically 12/3 50-footers. WorkSmart, Coleman Cable

http://www.use-enco.com/CGI/INPDFF?PMPAGE=1060&PMCTLG=00

Many extension cords sold in the USA have high lead content. Look for one that is ROHS compliant -- that's the european standard that means (among other things) very little lead and toxic metals allowed.

US Wire and Cable makes USA-made cords, many of which are ROHS compliant, and you can often find them inexpensively even in large (low gauge) sizes. I really like the ones I bought from them.

You'd be wrong. I had stuff in my cart with the coupons added but stopped to eat dinner and they expired right on time.

Don't lose all hope... The codes might actually REACTIVATE and then re-expire again. It happened last time. I think some people complained to them that they just missed it or something and they said they didn't mean to end it on time anyhow.

Angle plates seem real nice. The Kant clamp is awesome. It runs so smooth you can flick the handle and it will spin most of the way closed or open. Paint marker smells great. I got that end mill as an experiment. I'm going to see if I can use it on wood because a center cutting bit like that costs a fortune from a reputable router bit company (Whiteside). That one from OSG is US made and cost about 11$. Hopefully it works out. If not it was a cheap experiment.

Firworks:

***** As I'm sure you already know and you won't do it but I'll say it anyways:

Please do not put that end mill in your router. It was not designed to work at such high RPM's that a router spins at.

It's a recipe for disaster and very dangerous. ********

Yep, I've got a variable speed router so I think I should be good. I found a brochure from OSG listing the max speeds for the diameter on that line of end mill. I'll keep it a little lower than the listed speed range in case Bosch's tolerances were generous in the manual. If it ends up being unworkable I won't do it but it seems like a worthwhile or at least interesting experiment to me.

Just got a strange email from MSC Direct:

As a valued Enco customer you qualify for an exclusive offer from MSC Industrial Supply, the parent company of Enco. We invite you to experience mscdirect.com and also receive special savings on everything MSC has to offer.

Here's what you’ll get*:
Enhanced website experience
The same price you paid at Enco
Up to 30% off everything MSC sells
Freight Saver shipping

The MSC Direct website is a lot better than the Enco one but... Leaves me a lot of questions.

Does this mean that Enco codes will work on MSC Direct website? Are they honoring Enco Hot Deals too? Why are they doing this? Do they not want to maintain two websites? Are they planning to kill off Enco? Is this the end of awesome machinery and shop supplies deals? Who shot Mr. Burns?

When I clicked the link it had already made me an account on mscdirect with my Enco login and had me request a temporary password to login to it.

I received the same email several days ago, but when I priced shop a few items through the MSC Direct link, the MSC price was significantly higher. I tried using a 30% coupon they had at the time, but their 30%'s all seem to say up to 30% on some items and did not seem to apply to any of the items I had chosen. Lost interest and will just wait for the next Enco sale.

Enco is owned by MSC Direct.

Would not be surprised one bit if MSC was eager to recruit Enco customers to come over to MSC and purchase higher dollar items.

MSC's claim to fame is Next Day Air Saver at Ground rates, and it's legit.

MSC also offers a broader product selection. Try finding a Hougen 25/32 annular cutter at Enco and LMK how that goes. Then move to rural CO and try to get said cutter tomorrow for $11 shipping. MSC has its place, much more so for businesses than hobbyists (they're also GSA approved - not that that helps me).

Or, you know, just don't chew on the cable and wash your hands after handling it before eating.

:p

ROHS is more an environmental than performance or cost... I prefer lead solder myself when doing electronics... better hope my 1 lb kester spool lasts my life.
