does anyone have any experience with an endoscope? i need one, but i am not what you would call a "techie". if its more than toss in an installation disc and follow directions, i will not be able to use it. there are lots of them on ebay, but none of them say anything about windows 10 compatible.

I also thought this was going to be a medical question. I remember when the wife had to go for one down her throat then later had one up her ****. She asked the doctor if the same one was used for both procedures and he assured her it was not.

I bought one on Amazon as well fairly inexpensively. It plugged into my computers USB port and was detected as a webcam. I bought it to see down some drain pipes. It didn't work too well for that application because it kept twisting and you never knew which way was up on the screen. The focal length is fixed and everything was always blurry because it was either too close or too far away. IF you are using it to scope an engine cylinder, you'd need one with a fairly close focal length, and something fairly good resolution to see any cylinder scoring... Do you have any plumber buddies that might have one?

Bought one for $13 on eBay or Amazon. Ten foot cord. Variable light. Loaded onto ~10 yr old netbook, using furnished mini disc. Old machine recognized and runs great. Has twice found dropped parts/gaskets behind shower wall.

I bought the same one as HoosierBuddy.
I just plugged it in and opened Windows Movie Maker and there it was. A dedicated webcam.

pipes are what i need it for as well. i think i have a bunch of tree roots in the line. but digging just to investigate would require way to much work. the other possibility is the pipe goes right under where the previous owner had a burn pit. so the pipe may be collapsed from heat.

I just bought one on Ebay ($13) and am waiting for it to arrive. This one will plug into my Android phone making it really portable.

I had both ends done during the same visit, with the bottom being done first. The Dr. said they would wipe off the scope between uses.

Maybe bore-scope might be a better term.

Why not do both at the same time and just meet in the middle?:moon:

dependents on what you are using it for..... I have one of those those USB 30Meter ones... pic is ok 640*480 or 720P as claimed with some special trickery tweaking... works ok but keep in mind the cable is flexible... so you got to attach it to something if you needed it to snake some where.....

The cable are too flexible to be able to push 30 meters thought some drain pipes. from your post #8.....

you can't attached it to a rotary turning snake.... so have to find something .... I bought it to inspect my chimney ... had to tape it to a long pole ....

I have a Samsung Galaxy S5. In order to use the scope, they recommended downloading an app called OTG to make sure the phone is compatible with "USB on the go". I got the app and it said that the phone is compatible. Now waiting for the device to arrive...

I bought this one off amazon and installed it on a Windows 7 machine with no problems.

I have visions of using it to check for cylinder wear through the spark plug hole of a car I'm scratching my head on, but have yet to give it a try.

Bought these for work. They do OK. for infrequent use, they are Good. We have a rigid "see- snake" as well. Lots more $$. The problem with the cheapo ones are they are not on any sort of semi- rigid cable, making deep exploration difficult.
