energy monitors

I need to figure out how much juice my shop pulls for accounting purposes.

I was looking at one of these:

Anyone have experience with one or can recommend a cheaper unit?

Thanks for showing that one to me. Haven't looked at them in awhile, nothing affordable was on market when I last looked..

For around the house use I have been using http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001U638PM/?tag=atomicindus08-20 for past 3.5 years.
Depending on what your trying to figure out, might work for you. Nice for knowing what a certain items is doing over a day, etc..

My shop is going to be wired in with 2/2/2 and have it's own box.

The one you linked might be helpful if I were to run it off an extension cord?

Seems like you would want one of these meters made by emon they are for commercial uses as we'll as residential. I don't work for them or anything but a quick google search beings up these links.
