Anyone have an AC Hydraulics engine crane? Looks like it folds up nice and neat, but they're pricey. Wanted to know if anyone had any experiences with them.

You know, an engine hoist is one tool I'd really like to have but have a hard time justifying the purchase. I pull an average of one engine a year in a variety of cars, but I always end up renting one for $30. I can do ten engines for the price of a hoist. Then I have to store it in my already packed garage, and, well...

I'd love to have one, and that one looks like a nice tool. But unless I'm pulling a lot of engines on a regular basis, it's difficult for me to justify buying one for myself.

If its anything like my AC Hydraulics floor jack it's very high quality and probably uses Koni shock like the floor jack.

Engine Cranes aren't just for pulling motors, I load and unload my truck with mine, I have lifted disabled cars onto a trailer, lots of good reasons to have one on hand at all times.

Kinda sounds like "Engine Cranes, their not just for breakfast anymore".

But I agree with Outlawbob. My neighbor has used his for a lot of loading into his p/u bed. Also a great way to suspend heavy (or light, for that matter) item for paining.

It's great to have that extra muscle available when you need it. It's like having a half dozen friends around to help you lift things when you need them.

I have a summit racing one. Its like 15 years old, and the pump on it is having issues. I need to have it rebuilt or replaced. but this problem just arose after it was sitting and collectinf dust for liek 5 years. its to be expected. The thing is build very well, easy to take apart ot move as well. Way better than those cheap-o Big red branded ones.

I have one. It's awesome! Takes up very little floor space when folded up for storage, too.

I bought mine at an auction...$35.00...new hyd. ram...now I need to extend it a little for a little more reach but it was a good deal...I also bought a 9' tall jib crane...1000 lb. capacity...I'll have that installed in about a month...has a 12' foot swing on the I-beam...great for motors, lifting bodies off of frames, etc...another auction find for $100.00....
