I actually have one of those and feel a little flimsy pushing an engine around, plus the casters on those ****.

I have a couple of those wood dollys sitting around and you can put nearly anything on those and they roll around easily.

Any body make any engine dollys out of these?

I'm planning on using a couple of these for that purpose and am wondering what you guys have done. I'd like to keep the engine upright if possible.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Mike

I don't know about building an engine dolly out of it, but I set the crate on top of it and wheeled it around my garage and it maneuvered fairly well.

I have a BBC short block setting on one. I move it around ever so often to keep the wheels from flat spotting. My engine caddy has steel wheels and rolls easier. I also use 4 of these to move my 4post lift around .

Who sells inexpensive Chevrolet eng dolly ????

Most of the cheap/inexpensive engine cradles are made for SBC engines.

As for using the furn dolly, make sure you add more wood to have the weight right above the wheels. The uncarpeted wood bits are VERY easy to break if you put any weight on it (Ask me).

I realize you're looking to put a much larger engine on it, but I have a bunch of those wooden dollies that I use for Motorcycle engines. They work great. Obviously there is a bit of a weight difference :)

I use one of these when I "drop" my engines out of my little 914's. They work really well as I'm able to put the engine and ******, fully assembled, with heat exchangers right on them and easily wheel them around as needed.
