Engine Hoist Jack Rebuild?

I got this engine hoist several yrs ago I think from Northern Tools, they do have a replacement Jack price at 100.00. But I was wondering if these can be rebuild, all the fluid has leak out so I am guessing maybe an O-ring is bad. Or are they worth rebuilding, I don't want to spend 100.00 vs maybe .50 if these can be taken apart and replace O-rings. Has anyone done this before and is it worth the effort?

Can't say for sure about its construction but there are likely a rod scraper, U-cup seal(s) and possibly guide bushing(s) inside of it, in addition to an O-ring or 2.

Probably, someone somewhere makes a seal kit for it....but I think you'd be better off, all things considered, with a new replacement unit.

If you have time, take it apart and look at it. I don't know about where you live, where I live there are several stores that sell seals, do a search. Seals are cheap, it's easy to do, what have you got to lose??

Not worth the effort to source the parts and get filthy rebuilding it. New cylinder is a bolt on replacement and you are on to more productive things to do. I wager you would spend any perceived savings chasing down the correct parts and doing the rebuild - if you value your time at all.

if you don't have time to tinker and just get it working, then get the replacement pump.

if you have time, seal kits are available.

do an inspection and see where its leaking

the last 5 curb finds I got had leaks from the piston seal where you hand pump

5 minutes work with an o-ring from one of my kits (I got lucky)

these guys have kits and parts diagrams ( I have not personally used them)
