where would i find the pin that hold the boom on a engine lift.
i dont know who makes the lift, it has no name or marking. the hole is about the same size as a socket handle(currently using one as a pin) where would i find a pin, what does it look like.

i got it from a friend not assembled, and im not sure if the pin should have a key in it or what?

Try a tractor dealer or a farm supply like Tractor Supply. There are all different sizes of pins for attaching implements to tractors and the like. It all depends on how large a diameter and how long it needs to be, if you are specific on size someone may have a better idea.

Probably wouldnt even need to be hardened. Common bolt fashioned in to the part. Mechanics dont just work on the car. If you are doing a job as complicated as an engine swap you should be able to figure out how to repair the lift tool?
