Found 2 jugs 0W20 Castrol locally. Submitted for the rebate, quick and easy.
Another local store showed 3 jugs of the same but was unable to locate anywhere.

Yes, they have to pay their employees, employee taxes, rent or mortgage, utilities, liability insurance, and make a profit since someone took a risk and invested a bunch of money to open the franchise.
No doubt and many pay it. Synthetic isn't much more expensive than conventional last I checked. Conventional oil change is under $50.

So what? Let the unskilled and lazy go there. For the $70 to $90 for a half hour of my time I'll do it myself and know some idiot didn't screw up my cars. Two of them have free dealer oil changes but I still do them myself.
Yep, I can f it up for cheaper🤣 I hate bringing any of my vehicles in for oil changes.

Another from SD.

Valvoline full synthetic, 12qt "garage box", for $47.20 ($3.93/qt). Free shipping. This is from the manufacturer...not Walmart or Amazon

SD says you can cancel the subscription anytime. Just like Amazon does.

Most of us don’t use enough diesel oil to buy ten cases at a time. I needed a single gallon for my diesel generator. I already got a great deal on Black Friday on two five gallon pails of Rotella T6 for my Detroit Series 60.

I use it in everything, granted almost everything I have is diesel.

Easier than keeping 30 different engine oils on hand. Most fleets do the same.

I use the diesel oil in my 460 powered E350HD van. :)

What year, how many miles, what viscosity?

I have a 93 RV with that engine. Just over 100k miles, very thirsty with the oil (and gas, of course).

It is a 1994. Pretty much the same as yours. E40D transmission and fuel injected.

So the 460 was designed originally as a medium duty truck engine. 10 ton and under. It was quite versatile so it ended up in a bunch of rigs over the years. I use just about any diesel rated engine oil that is on sale. Rotella T6 etc.

I use the 15w40. I try and stick with that weight. It has 173k miles on it now. Runs like a champ and gets about 16mpg at 65mph. Not too bad considering it is a 1.5 ton rig. Standard length and it is a rare passenger van with the 1.5t rating.

Thanks. Does the diesel oil help reduce consumption?

I get 7-7.5 mpg, but it's a Class C motorhome. I've already had the ****** rebuilt, that is WAY undersized for the job. But the engine itself has been great, outside of drinking oil.

I don't think so. When I first got it, I was running 5w30 semi synthetic in it for the first oil change. Got the same mileage as I do with the 15w40 diesel oil.

I used to have a class C rig. 460 with a C6. It got about 9mpg on the freeway. It was fuel injected.

You should have the E40D which I wouldn't think is undersized for that job. It is essentially a C6 with the overdrive.

Sorry, I meant oil consumption. I've given up on gas mileage, LOL.

New Mobil Delvac rebate program posted. Nothing to get too excited about, but icing if you find a price deal or are already buying. Starts March 1. Amazon excluded.

I've never heard of Delvac, but attacking Amazon specifically is a new tactic (to me, anyways).

Just grabbed 29 quarts of Valvoline Full synthetic for $94.38. Worked out to $3.25/qt.
Looks to be limited to 5w30 and 0w20.

I added one 5w30 garage box, and one 0w20 garage box to cart using the "Subscribe and Save" option, then picked every 6 months. It automatically added an extra 5qt jug of both. The 5w30 was discounted to $0, and the 0w20 was discounted 20%. I removed the extra 5qt jug of 0w20 from cart, but left the 5w30 for $0.

Looks like I can cancel the sub anytime. If I can pick what I cancel, I'm keeping the 5w30 for $0 going for life. 😅

$6 - $8 off Kirkland Signature Motor Oil at Costco starts this Wednesday, April 9, 2025.

Normal price (around here, at least) is $35.99 for a 2-pack of five quart jugs of quality synthetic, already a good deal, and the discount will put that under three bucks a quart.

Limit is five each trip.
