Uhh, what's wrong with just taking it to the parts store and emptying it into their bulk used oil container when you're done with the oil change?

On a side note, how's the sledding in your neck of the woods? We come out of Munising but don't get much south of Gwinn. If the snow is good, we'll do a run from Munising to Copper Harbor and back though.

I just save windshield wiper fluid jugs & use those. I have about 4-5 that I fill up before taking them to the quick-change place that accepts used oil...

I have a siphon hose set up that I attach to the oil pan, which flows down and through the wall and into my neighbours yard!!

!:evil::evil:

Kidding of course :bounce: - here's my set up. Take a couple years to fill, then I take it to the Quickie Lube for free disposal.

I pour it into a 5 gal bucket. Then I set the drain pan on edge over the bucket leaning against the wall like ZRX61. When it's full I take it to my mechanic, who has a used oil burning garage heater.

Used 5 Gallon Race Fuel Cans. Fill them then take it to be recycled. I would burn it if I had a shop heater but I use Propane so no need.

I buy the 5 quart oil jugs. I drain the old oil into a pan that has a spout attached, reinstall the drain plug (VERY important), and dump in the new oil, filling the filter first where possible. I then dump the old oil in the drain pan into the jug, take the jug to work and dump the oil in one of five oil furnaces.

I use a 5 gal pail. I am searching for a 10-15 gal barrel though since the 5 gal pail fills too fast (one oil change in either my trucks is 3 gals)

As for getting rid of it I either give it to friends with used oil furnaces or I use it to start the fire in my burn barrel.

I put some of it in the fuel tank of my 86 F250 Diesel. At about 20% WMO the Ford loves it!

I use an old 275 gal. fuel oil tank for waste oil. It's fitted with a funnel on top with a screen in it. The funnel is large enough that my oil drain pan can be turned upside down in it to drain. I use most of my used oil around the farm to lubricate exposed flat chain on farm equipment. When I get a surplus, I offer it to my neighbor who has an oil burner in his shop.

Big barrels like this are nice until you have to get them into the back of a pickup when they're full. They get pretty heavy.

Yep. 5 gallon fuel containers. If you get the white ones you can see the level before it's too full.

Yes, I have a 275 also.

Wow! that looks just like mine! Did you make your funnel? I made mine from the bottom half of a propane bottle. I welded a 2 1/2" ****** in the bottom, and screwed it into the top of the tank so it stays put.
