Hey, folks. I was wondering if anyone might be able to help me find some sources for a project I'm working on.
I'm trying to raise money to put anti-malaria bednets into hotspots in Africa on an on-going basis. I was inspired by a friend, Lyell Clarke, who does the same thing on a bigger scale (http://www.rbm.who.int/ProgressImpac.../Clarke-en.pdf). What I am thinking is to build funky industrial and steampunk office (or home!) furniture based on auto parts and also castings for the equipment I make here. I've done a few sample pieces for our new boardroom to nearly 100% acclaim (at least from guys, it's sort of a guy thing). I'll be donating all of my time and labor to design, fab, weld, and coat these, along with any parts "borrowed" from inventory here, plus all the ancillary costs. 100% of revenues (not just proceeds) beyond selling fees will go toward the bednet cause.
So I guess I'm asking if anyone has good leads on parts. They can be new but scrapped (e.g., machined out of tolerance) or used (I can clean them up in ultrasonic washers here). Donations would be preferred, but I'm open. I have a UPS number for shipping, too.
If anyone knows a good source, I'd appreciate a lead.
