I needed more reasons to avoid working on the racecar yesterday, so I decided I needed another engine stand. I picked up some casters from princess auto, and the rest was steel from around the shop. For less then $50 invested, it will do just fine.

I built this one a while ago for a 401, the width is adjustable so I can use it for other engines if needed.

Today I actually built a table to mount to the top of it for a chop saw to match the height of my work benches. I started looking for material to build a square with casters and I tripped over the stand...worked perfectly.

Nice Stands guys!!!

Between my Engines and my Engine Builders stuff we designed a caddy that would accommodate a Big Block Chevy, Old DRCE II & III or a Small Block. The Bolt Hole Pattern on the back was the same between all the motors locating off the Dowel Pins so that was fixed.

The front however based on different Motor Plates had to be "infinitely" adjustable. Laid out the Hole Pattern so we had 1/16 adjustment increments. When putting the stand on a BBC or Olds the front supports went behind the Motor Plate and when placing a SBC they went in front of the Motor Plate.

The Caddy itself was set on a 3/16 Aluminum Plate with Casters on it. So when moving around the shop we could roll them around but when they went into the Trailer they would sit on the Floor and we had (2) 1/2 Quick Pins to hold them in place or we would leave the Caster Plate under them and strap them to the Walls.
