So in my quest for a USA made engine stand I came a arias this older engine stand it has no markings I don’t think it’s home made but If it is it’s well done. I do however want to change the casters and add a front cross beam to make it a bit more stable. Anyone have any info on something like this? IMG_0654.jpgIMG_0653.jpg

Those 3 wheel ones are dangerously unstable. Put that crossbar on and convert it to a 4 wheeler. I'd be leery of using it for anything bigger than a small-block engine.

Never would I put a multi thousand dollar engine on a three wheel stand. I know people do it, but it seems silly to me with how cheap and plentiful 4 wheel stands are. This just isn't an application where you would benefit from 3 wheels over 4

Easy enough to change that. Weld another piece across the front. Could be a 5 wheel then. Possibly could get away with bolting it on if you don’t have a welder.

Good chance it is shop made. I have a very similar one made from plans in Car Craft magazine in the 70's.

Have had a 3 wheeled stand for years and used it for several engine jobs. Never a concern or an issue.
