I'll do my best to make him a tool guy. His father isn't, but he's getting there. I told my son-in-law "you need to Instill the car guy attitude into the kid." As we stood in my garage looking over my tools, '71 FIAT 850 Spider, 79 Z28 & 85 Mustang GT. "These will be the kid's someday, cause you don't get it". My son in law chuckled.
You own a Fiat Spider and admit it?
LOLOLOLZ.
Then again, look at my screen name.

But--I don;t have to shift the pattern from something sticking out of the dashboard where my radio and heater controls are...
Hahahaha.
I'd take the tool to the local trophy supplier or mall and see what the options are. Both of those should NOT break the chrome thickness nor void any warranty.
As for Fiats, back in the early 90's I had a buddy whose daughter wanted to buy a used X-1/9 and had me look at it.
Owner used PVC pipe to plumb the coolant lines from the front radiator back to the engine insted of the proper and $$$ long-a$$ coolant hoses.
She took it for a drive with me and when stopping for gas, the coolant jsut kept seeping/dripping out of the bottom of the car due to half-assed connecetions and the wrong fix. I said no. Her dad agreed. Lesson learned.
While I love technology, I also like working with my hands.
Not a lot of folks do. Or they grow into it.
Kinda like cooking, when eating out gets too expensive or just grows old.
Keep tryin' though. No harm in that.
