Mine just started a few days ago... but with spaces this big, there is only one word you need to know: PROJECTOR. Screw TVs. Nothing beats playing grand theft auto @ 1:1 scale!

Is this thread about inside the home or garage setups?

Another obsession of mine. Heres the theater room I built in the basement of my house. It was once a gym, until I added on, and then it was a playroom for the kids, until they turned it into a mess. So I took it back and spent some time researching equipment and the proper way to setup a theater. (ie: a few other forums I frequent.

I also have a vintage Carver system in my office

And another small surround system in the bedroom along with the 2 channel system that is connected throughout the house. Oh, and I have an old Yamaha reciever in my garage for backround music.

Like I said, another obsession!:wtf:

I'll wait until I have some pictures to post but I couldn't wait to post on this thread! My garage is definitely a place where there is a ton of entertainment going on in addition to the wife's car, workshop, food prep area, escape. Can't wait to see everyone's set ups!

Keep 'em coming!

It's nice to see some vintage Carver pieces still in action (as they should be). Do I see a M500t in that office? I still run a couple of vintage Carver M400's. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks guys! the walls are stained 1/4" lauan mahogany plywood. They are stained alternately burgandy/ebony and 3-4 coats gloss poly over that. The ceiling is the same, but broken into 4'x4' blocks and stained in a checkerboard pattern. Not for everybody, I did have to over compensate with the lights, but i love it!

Here's the entertainment area in The Hot Rod Grille Garage. The recent Christmas party was attended by 19 local hotrodder's who enjoyed pinball, pizza, cold drinks and ice cream treats from the soda fountain.

Here's my old setup, 300+lbs of vintage amps with a combined total of 750+ watts.

http://www.svxworldforums.com/forum5/462.html

It was awesome. Hoping to find a place for it in the garage.
wow that is sweet!!! i like how you integrated speakers/subs into things like the couch and that black stool thing. I bet that system shook the house!!!

Yep TV swivels 360*, and yes I do cut, grind, chop, weld etc in my shop!
cool, looks like an awesome spot. add a microwave and you could live out there!!!

I have a projector attached to the ceiling and a pull-down screen in my workshop. Sometimes, we have friends over to watch technical videos on how to service SU carburetors and so forth. Both the projector annd screen are normally out of the way. A picture appears in the local sports car club Facebook page. I have attached the link here, in the hope this leads to the photo. If not, I will post the picture.

Well, I don't have my garage sound finished up yet, but here's a picture of my living room setup. I LOVE IT. 7.2 Onkyo THX Certified, a mix of Sony and Yamaha speakers along with a Yamaha Sub and a Polk Sub. Plus the 47" LCD and my PS3 and Xbox360. Yes it's over kill for my little house but man does it sound cool. (and yes I still need to tuck a couple wires, i'll get there eventually, right now the garage is priority!)

Nice rendering, just how big is that screen? haha Will this still be a usable garage or a total man-cave? Kinda looked like you might have a tool box on the jeep side, but i couldn't tell for sure.

Thanks, we really enjoy it. We're still working on getting that wall decorated too, my wife picked up some old vinyls in the original sleeves and some other stuff at a yard sale, hopefully it'll tie it into the room a little more, since it's all just electronic equipment on that wall at the moment.

BTW, if anyone is in the market for an entry level high end reciever,(oxymoron), they should definately take a look at these onkyo's. I didn't mention in the original post but it's actually a 9.2 reciever, my house is just too small to run THAT many speakers. Also the newer version of mine came out about 4 months after I bought it, for less money (go figure) and it has the new HDMI 1.4 standard and a few other bells and whistles included. They are REALLY nice recievers with a LOT of power, i think mine is 135 watts per channel, with a plethora of inputs and outputs. Overall, a really versital system for the entry level audiophile.

I’ve posted some pics on a previous TV/stereo thread, but here's a few details of the “entertainment” part of the garage. A Bose 3-2-1 system on the east wall connects an Xbox 360 and HP netbook to a 32” flat screen for gaming & web surfing. The main system on the south wall is all powered through a Harmon Kardon 5.1 receiver installed in a lower Hercke cabinet with custom smoked glass door inserts. It's connected to a cable/dvr box, Celestion satellites, subwoofer and center channel. Video is handled by a Sony 47” LED flat screen. All components are out of sight with exception of the speakers and TV’s. Cables & wires run through the walls, light soffit and ceiling giving it a cleaner look.

Tomorrow I’m installing food, drinks and friends – it’ll be Super Bowl ready.

Here's mine... 50" Panasonic HD on satellite/PVR, Yamaha 5.1 surround. Custom corner mount for the TV; it pulls out enough to turn 90 degrees so it can point down either workbench.

Here is mine in my new space:

110" HD Fixed screen with a HD Epson projector, and full surround sound along with 6 other ceiling mount speakers thoughout the rest of the garage.

SANY1428.jpg

SANY1438.jpg

Even with all the lights on in the garage, the new projector has a daylight setting so you can see the pic with no issues what so ever while working.

98" Shovel in Delkrons, custom everything. The only thing OEM HD on it are the handlebar controls and I'm gonna lose them...

More pix here. I want to take more but, given the quality around here, I'm gonna paint the floor first...

Some great looking (and I'm sure sounding) A/V set ups for your garages. Since there are obviously some serious audiophiles on this thread, maybe someone out there can tell me if there is a reasonable solution for my situation. I'm building my garage with 2 separate viewing areas, one for the work bench / garage bay area and the other for a small lounge / bar / man cave area. I want to use 1 A/V receiver and a common sub woofer between the areas. What I'm not finding is a speaker selector switch that will switch between the the 2 (5-channel) speaker systems. Basically I'm trying to have a dual room surround speaker system from a single A/V receiver. I'll only be using 1 set of 5 surround sound speakers at a time and the sub woofer will be common for both areas. Any ideas on a selector switch or multiple DP/DT ice cube relays.:dunno:

Ummm ... yeah ... I was thinking along those same lines for mine. Once the man cave is finished, I'd have the guys over to watch live coverage of the House of Representatives -- or maybe we'll watch Martha Stewart's new show.

Or maybe we'll just see how close you have to stand to an electric nail gun to draw blood.

J/K. Don't hurt me.

Seriously, there are some awesome garages here.
