Here's a picture of my garage workshop (the back bay of the tandem side of my 3-car garage):
928_in_Garage_2.JPG

That picture is a couple of years old. You can see the clutter on the counter, which is how it always begins.

Now the 928 is up on jack stands for a timing-belt job that turned into a list of WYAITs as long as my arm (steering rack bushings—motor mounts—oil-pan gasket—tie rods—etc. etc. etc.), and the overhead fluorescent lights at the front end of the garage have gone out.

One of these days I'm going to install a lift and rig a steel cable with a winch to make it easy to raise and lower the canoe and get everything off the counter and replace the Racedeck where it's damaged and fix the countertop where it split next to the sink.

It'd be nice to have good light to do all that.

But I can't replace the ballasts on the fluorescents because I can't put up a ladder because I can't move the 928 because I haven't put the steering rack back on because I haven't torqued the crossmember bolts.

Entropy is an implacable *****. She'll get you, if you give her half a chance, and before you know it your once pristine garage will look like a junk shed.

It's not that I'm complaining. I know what I have to do, and I have all of the necessary parts and tools. Next week I have a light work week. Maybe if I state publicly what it is that I need to do, that'll be the impetus for me to get out there and knock it off.

I thank you for listening. :)

I like the car...always been a fan of the 928.

Easiest you can do is make a pipe rack that will hold light fixtures to have light- and make it movable.

If you didn't have a place to work on your car, you wouldn't be complaining about this..... (that's the way I look at it) you could be complaining on how the sun goes down too early..

If you need us to harass you into doing stuff, that should not be a problem.
:)

That might help. :bounce:

I look forward to posting images of the entire space, with all vehicles in their proper position.

"S = klog P + c where P is the probability that a particular state of the system exists, k is the Boltzmann constant, and c is another constant"

Here's the formula, Fill-in the blanks.

mbmb, that is one of the best written posts I have ever read here.

The replies aren't bad either.

But I'm sure I could find some way up to those lights using planks or whatever. ;):D

That's kind.

I've looked at some ways up there. I probably could find some way, maybe even without plummeting onto my aluminum hood.

But, truth be told, it'll be simpler just to get the 928 buttoned up and move it out of the way.

Okay. As soon as I'm back from work, I'm getting under the car with a torque wrench. Progress pictures to follow.
