I could swear that chrome tools that get an EOR dunk, are brighter when they come out of the tank. Am I imagining this?

I'm starting to use EOR on the rehab of tools that have no rust on them at all. But that makes no sense. :headscrat

Perhaps I have gone un-sane.

I seem to get some faint yellowing on really shiny chrome sockets if I put them in there. I'll find two equally shiny items and dunk one tonight and check it tomorrow. I've got something in the tank 24/7 these days.

Damn you guys.

Bolster,

I've noticed the same, but I'm thinking it's probably a case of the EOR cleaning the chrome at a micro level (i.e. the tiny depressions of satin chrome in particular). I don't see much of a difference in pollished chrome thats been threated to an EOR bath.

I have bits for my cordless drill that adapt to 1/4. 3/8/ and 1/2 inch drive. I put a socket on the bit, a little wd-40 of kerosene and some 000 steel wool and grab and spin and have a shiney socket quickly. Learned that from Ears.

Yes, I should have specified satin chrome, which is what I use EOR on with great success. I was wondering if maybe there is some oxidation even in older chrome tools, that the EOR cleans up.

(Haven't noticed any effect on high polish chrome.)

Isn't it fun, though, to pull the stuff out and see what you've got? I always get a big charge when a piece comes out looking like you just took 30 years off of it.

I think it does; I put some Snap-On 1/4" sockets from the 50s in EOR and they looked like new when they came out... didn't really have rust on them!
