God I hate those damn things. The best way I've found is to spray PB blaster into the fitting, then use the plastic disconnect tool.

I bought the metal disconnect the first time thinking "metal is better than plastic". 2 hours later I was back at Autozone to buy the plastic on and had the line off in minutes.

This is exactly what I was thinking! A disconnect kit is on my buy list.

To the OP... sorry to hear about your troubles but glad you posted about it.

Cheers,

I have never used the plastic one but I hear they work great. I have a full set that are made of aluminum and they have always worked great. Don't know where I got them or who makes them, so not much help I guess.

HF have several different set of tap and die. Avoid the really cheap ones. They are pretty crappy and useless. If you do get the HF, get the much higher quality ti-nitrate coated version. They are only for medium duty. If you plan plan to work with high strength steel, you should go with a professional brand.

Newer Ford's (like my 2007 Fusion and my daughter's 2008 Escape) don't have inline fuel filters ! Or if they do I can not find them !
